I'm going to...DISNEYLAND!!!

Well, if you haven't heard by now, Diane has been very sick and Steve and her were going to take Lauren and Christopher and Sydney to California as a graduation present for Christopher graduating from Law School.
A few days ago Steve called and asked me if I wanted to go in Diane's place. I thought he was kidding of course, this is Steve we are talking about. Apparently he was serious.
So I talked to Joe and being the most incredible husband he is, said he would work it
out with his work and make arrangements and he could totally handle it all while I go!
AMAZING!
I just happened to quit my job 2 weeks ago so this was definitely a GOOD THING. Diane's sister is coming to stay with her and so I get to go to Disneyland and San Diego for a week!
You have to realize that I feel excited but guilty. Joe and I have only left our kids 2 times for more than 2 nights since we've been married. Once, when I won a cruise back in '93 and we were gone for 4 days and then when we went to Scotland for Alisa's wedding. I have NEVER gone away WITHOUT Joe. I've told Ashley and Nathan
WHO I'm going with but just not WHERE...other than California. Here I am going to the happiest place on earth without them---bad mom award, good sister award.
I feel guilty about feeling guilty!
The last time I went anywhere without kids(or husband) was to Disneyland with Alan and Peggy and Mandy and Brad when they were 1 and 3 I believe.
So I will try real hard to relax and enjoy myself and come back rejuvenated as Joe says.
Wish me LUCK!
And thanks again to Steve and Di and Joe!

  1. How exciting. I love Disneyland. I'm sad that Di is still not doing well. That makes me sad. How nice of them to ask you to go in her place. I hope you have a wonderful time. You deserve a break!!! Live it up. What an amazing husband you have to let you go! I know you will have so much fun. We are going in Sept. and we have invited my Dad to go with us. I hope he can. Have fun!!!

  2. So excited for you! You REALLY REALLY deserve a trip like this and a time to get away, have fun and relax. Of course it is only natural to feel guilt ... but really you shouldn't feel guilty - you are such a great mom! You DESERVE THIS! :)
